Even though I was raised in a very religious family, I did not know God’s love. Years later, I got married and moved to a different part of México. Although my wife and I were in love, we knew something was missing in our life. We began to search for the “truth”. I thought that I would find it in the religious world I had known growing up. But I didn’t find it there so I searched other religions like Zen meditation, Rosicrucian teachings and even the Jehovah Witness church. I literally went to these people and asked them what “truth” was while I was really trying to find God’s love to fill my life.

It was during this time of searching that some friends of our's introduced us to an older missionary couple. I had told Julie that I was Catholic and I wasn’t going to change. This missionary knew that I needed help, but he didn’t want to offend me. So he simply said, “ I have something for you and you can read it if you want to.” He handed me a tract entitled, “The Catholic Bible Tells the Truth”. I was determined to find out what the truth was so having only a “Protestant” Bible I went and bought a Catholic Bible. As I read the tract point by point and looked up each Bible verse I discovered some huge discrepancies between the religion I knew and what my Catholic Bible said about God! I really wanted to know who this God of the Bible was!

Soon after this, the same friends took us to a church service. We walked into the worship service where people were singing and raising their hands up in the air. I had never seen anything like it before. As I began to sing the words on the overhead, I found myself raising my hands and I cried – I was experiencing God’s love for me!

In that moment, I knew that God loved me and that He sent Jesus to die for me. After months of searching, I knew I had found the “truth” through accepting God’s love for me.
